Dubrovnik is one large cultural and historical monument and it’s often called the Monument City. The old historic town of Dubrovnik is definitely the most attractive part, with more than 1900m of almost intact old city walls, which consist of numerous fortifications, bastions, towers, and separate forts, including Minčeta Tower, recognized as a symbol of liberty of Dubrovnik. A Rich Cultural Heritage Recognized by UNESCO
When it comes to cultural heritage, Dubrovnik has a lot to offer. If you happen to visit this amazing city in early February, there’s a good chance you’ll end up celebrating the Festivity of Saint Blaise, the festival which has been held for more than a thousand years. This unique festival was included in the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO back in 2009, same as the local dialect and the traditional dance called linđo, and klapa multipart singing.
Many poets, artists, and scientists found their peace and inspiration right here in this city. Ivan Gundulić, Marin Držić, Vlaho Bukovac, Marin Getaldić, Luka Sorkočević and Ruđer Bošković are only a few of the famous citizens of Dubrovnik.
